Position: Vice President, Building Science Services
Location: Mississauga, Ontario

their next Vice President, Building Science Services.

We are not looking for the "average" Vice President who
likes to do things the way it has always been done in the
past. We are searching for someone who can think outside of
the box. One who can look at the development of the Building
Science Service business line across the company with a long
term operational view.

JOB PROFILE

Reporting to the President, the Vice President, Building
Science Services is a key business leadership position
responsible for the development of the Building Science
Service business line across the company including building
envelope investigations, energy audits and remediation.

The successful candidate will be accountable to develop,
define and implement the overall growth strategies and
direction of the Building Science Service Line for all
offices of the company. The successful candidate will work
with operations managers in each office/region of the
company in order to grow the service line. Growth in the
amount of work and profit across the company will be a key
measure of success for this position as will the overall
development of technical capabilities. The candidate has a
professional engineering background with at least 10 years
of experience in leadership of a group and client
development in the building science area and will ideally
have some experience in aspects of energy management
to provide leadership in this area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Grow the overall business through sales and marketing for
existing and new clients.
* Communicate effectively with senior level client contacts
to develop new business with existing clients.
* Lead a client oriented and integrated total solution
approach to the services under his/her responsibility.
* Co-ordinate the engagement of multiple service or
geographic areas for large clients or projects where
multiple services are involved.
* Initiate and lead company-wide focus groups to continually
enhance company's services.
* Increase profitability through effective utilization and
deployment of staff in all service areas.
* Work with existing senior staff to provide guidance and
direction to junior staff.
* Develop and implement a long-term strategic plan for these
service areas.
* Actively contribute towards ideas and decisions as an
Executive Committee member of the company.
* Work in partnership or collaborate with other business
line leaders in the company to promote the optimization of
key client relationships and strategies.
* Meet or exceed defined business line performance as
outlined in annual and long term business plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bright conceptual and strategic thinker
* Consulting engineering background/P.Eng. (10 years
minimum) with experience in the building envelope or
building science area
* 10 years of proven business development experience in
consultative engineering sales
* Established network of contacts with major institutional,
commercial and/or industrial facilities
* Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including
experience with proposal writing and creating presentations
* Comprehensive understanding of Ontario/Canadian building
codes as they relate to building science issues
* Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills
* Ability to recognize and develop talent
* Work/experience with major institutional, commercial
and/or industrial facilities

Proven ability to:
* Generate growth through the development and implementation
of business strategies to maximize opportunities with existing
and new clients in public and private sector
* Maximize profitability through effective business management
* Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients
* Be an effective decision maker
* Manage a group of staff of 30 or more
* Work effectively with staff at all levels

This position will require some work related travel.
Therefore, a valid driver's license insurance & personal
vehicle is required (work related travel expenses will be
compensated).
