JAZZ Solar Solutions is a Canadian solar startup based in
Ottawa founded by technology entrepreneurs and business
experts from the Energy, Telecommunications and Construction
industries. We are dedicated to helping the homeowners,
businesses and municipalities of Ontario Province
participate in the Ontario Power Authority's(OPA) new
Feed-In Tariff (FIT) programs offering financial incentives
for solar installations.
Position Overview:
Entrepreneurial innovator passionate about building JAZZ
Solar into a household brand for residential grid-tied PV
solutions. At an early member of the team, while you will
wear many hats, your prime responsibility will be design,
planning and installation of Solar PV solutions. The
position is located in the Ottawa area and may require
limited travel.
Responsibilities:
* Solar Installation processes and procedures
* Site surveys with latest online and portable tools
* System Design and Tradeoffs with various modules,
inverters and racking
* Installation Planning
* Inventory and Tools Management
* On site design implementation: working off of plans and
schematics
* Install Crew Supervision
* Attic work in homes and businesses to verify structural
attachment
* DC and AC electrical wiring of systems
* System commissioning
* New product and technology evaluation and training
* Safety Certifications
* Customer Education
* Solar Evangelism
* Continuous Improvement
Experience:
* Hands-on mechanical installations, general construction
and ladder, staging and roof work
* Solid understanding of electrical wiring of AC and DC
systems
* Working with all types of hand-held and power tools
* Operating small machinery (trenchers, bobcats, forklifts)
* Exposure with multiple types of building materials -
various roof types, wood, concrete, Uni-strut, etc.
Qualifications:
* Strong work ethic, self motivated, well organized
* Team player who listens, learns, and actively communicates
* Visual thinker good at problem solving and implementing ideas
* Knowledge of the renewable energy marketplace, technology
and industry PREFERRED
* Desire to learn and master all aspects of installing solar
* 1-2 years of construction background is PREFERRED
* 2-year degree in technology/industrial arts PREFERRED
* Ability to work on roofs and ladders. No fear of heights.
* Solar training program certification (i.e. Solar Energy
International ) - PREFERRED
* North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners
(NABCEP) - PREFERRED
* Valid driver's license required
