WORK-STAY / VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Position: Unique Manitoulin 'Work-Stay'
Organization: Blue Jay Creek Art Farm
Location: Manitoulin Island, Lake Huron, Ontario, Canada

Blue Jay Creek Art Farm ("Tomatoes, Potatoes, and Other
Art!") seeks hard workers who want to experience a unique
Canadian community of growers and farmers trying to find
a sustainable way to a resilient future.

Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater island in the
world and is home to six Anishnaabe First Nations and
a diverse non-Native population that is rapidly changing
with the changing times.

Blue Jay Creek Art Farm hosts volunteers who are
passionate about gardening, art, animals, nature,
community, and learning a good way into the future.
We offer camping in idyllic settings on our 100-acre farm,
a big, healthy supper for omnivores (emphasizing garden-
fresh veggies, of course!), and a chance to help out not only
on our baby Art Farm -- with everything from planting to
painting, digging to dancing! - but also at a variety of
gardens and farms, most of them quite a bit more
experienced and developed than we are. As well, volunteers
can negotiate cash or barter exchange for other meals if
they wish.

Only four to six hours work is requested, and in your
off hours you can find, nearby: hiking, biking, boating,
swimming, horseback riding, fishing, birdwatching,
stargazing at the dark-sky sanctuary, as well as pow wows
and outdoor workshops and lots more!
