This posting will also be used to determine eligibility and preferred candidates for 2 supporting roles as Outreach/Volunteer Assistant.

One Change is a not-for-profit organization based in Ottawa, Ontario and is launching its first provincial wide Fuel Efficiency Campaign. One Change is seeking an enthusiastic applicant for the position of Outreach /Volunteer Coordinator.

Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, the Outreach/Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for outreach to local groups and associations as well as recruiting and training volunteers. The incumbent works with the Regional Manager to develop and implement community engagement strategies.

The incumbent handles calls from volunteers and works closely with the Mapping and Inventory Assistant to assign delivery routes to volunteers and ensure that volunteers are equipped to answer any anticipated questions, using the campaign's messaging guidelines. It is the responsibility of the Outreach/Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteers understand the importance of data collection and reporting and has the requirement to follow up with volunteers to make sure deliverables are delivered on schedule.


Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Recruit, secure and coordinate volunteers by creating and maintaining relationships with community associations, neighbourhood groups, etc
2. Provide orientation and training to all volunteers as well as plan and implement volunteer recognition events
3. Implement outreach activities with local government, associations and volunteers
4. Assist in the managing of events that require volunteers
5. Foster strong relationships with community sponsors and partners
6. Coordinate staff, volunteers, and supplies related to large and small-scale community events
7. Perform outreach activities to fulfill the campaign's goals
8. Support the campaign by engaging community groups/faith groups and individual participation
9. Maintain contact management systems and contact information databases
10. Provide weekly status reports to Regional Manager
11. Work with partners to ensure that funder's requirements are met, as required
12. Some work on evenings and weekends is required

Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise the responsibilities of an Outreach/Volunteer Assistant

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree or volunteer management certification

Experience:
* Solid experience in community development, campaign management or not-for-profit management
* Strong interest in environmental causes and conservation projects
* Previous experience in community-based campaign management
* Bilingualism is an asset

Skills:
* Prioritize and handle multi-faceted competing priorities
* Recruit and energize community groups and sponsors
* Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of volunteers and staff members
* Possess creative thinking and collaborative problem solving skills with strong written and oral communications skills
* Possess ability to oversee and manage complex projects on time and on budget
* Strong administrative and organizational skills and the capacity to work under pressure with excellent attention to detail and presentation
* Effective supervisory and managerial skills
* Ability to recruit, motivate and manage volunteers
* Possess knowledge of community associations and neighbourhood groups
* Strong leadership and facilitation skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Strong technical/computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
* Must be able to work in diplomatic and respectful way with broader communities and diverse cultures
