This posting will also be used to determine eligibility and preferred candidates for 2 supporting roles as Events Assistant.
One Change is a not-for-profit organization based in Ottawa, Ontario and is launching its first provincial wide Fuel Efficiency Campaign. One Change is seeking an enthusiastic applicant for the position of Events Coordinator.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Events Coordinator works closely with the Volunteer and Communications staff to ensure effective event promotions. The Event Coordinator coordinates events and prepares staff for participation in a variety of campaign events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Assist in obtaining donations, gifts in kind (for incentives and prizes)
2. Coordinate logistics for all events
3. Research new possibilities for events
4. Provide public relations support for events
5. Network with other organizations involved in the promotion of energy conservation and volunteerism
6. Generate a community presence for the campaign through event participation
7. Find creative ways to engage hard to reach members of target communities
8. Work remotely with communications team to create communications materials for special events
9. Work with partners to execute campaign deliverables
10. Work with external stakeholders to facilitate events
11. Report on indicators of successful events and incorporate lessons learned into future event planning
12. Provide stories to the communications coordinator for web publishing
13. Coordinate all post-event procedures and evaluations
Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise the responsibilities of an Events Assistant
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years event coordination or project management experience
Experience:
* Project Management experience
* Maintenance of program/event budgets and timelines
* Experience with tabletop events, fairs, and farmer's markets
* Familiarity with permitting processes
* Time management flexibility required as events take place outside normal business hours
* Knowledge of community groups and activities in the region
Skills:
* Proficiency with MS Office
* Valid driver's license
* Must be able to work in diplomatic and respectful way with broader communities and diverse cultures
* Experience with funder representation
