As MHPM continues to attract exciting project opportunities, we have an immediate opening for an experienced sustainability specialist for the role of, Sustainability Services Leader. The successful candidate will be based in Vancouver, reporting to the Regional Vice President. The Sustainability Services Leader will be responsible for the implementation, growth, management and continuous improvement of MHPM's sustainability services offering in the Pacific Region.
The Sustainability Services Leader will provide expert advice to help clients make informed decisions regarding their building/infrastructure projects, asset management, capital planning, as well as operations and energy management activities. The Sustainability Services Leader will be familiar with the integrated design process (IDP) and will provide LEED Project Management Consulting Services including facilitation of the sustainable design process, eco-charettes and the LEED administration process. The Sustainability Services Leader is the expert resource on green buildings, sustainability, greenhouse gas (GHG) management and energy management to MHPM's project management, program management and construction services staff.
The Sustainability Services Leader is responsible for developing the region's Sustainability Services business plan and ensuring continued growth within these services offerings across the Pacific region. This individual will lead the identification, competition and delivery of Sustainability Services assignments and ensure that project profitability objectives are met.
Responsibilities:
* Manage and operate the regional sustainability services offering in accordance with the regional Business Plan and corporate objectives.
* Provide expert advice for the management of energy efficiency projects, GHG emissions reduction projects, and high-performance green buildings (LEED candidate projects).
* Manage and advise the Regional Vice President and Principals on the growth of Sustainability Service fee income in the Region.
* Advise the Regional Vice President and Principles regarding services desired by MHPM's clients.
* Assist the Business Development Manager in the planning and delivery of marketing and business development plans, proposal development, networking, lead generation, holding client meetings, as well as sales presentations.
* Represent the Region as part of the company wide Sustainability Services Team and thereby contribute to growth, development, planning and delivery of sustainability services across MHPM.
* Recruit and assist in the hiring of new Sustainable Services Team members across the company.
* Directly supervise and be responsible for training new employees on the regional Sustainability Services Team.
* Coordinate and conduct training on sustainability for regional staff.
* Ensure client satisfaction for all projects.
* Contribute to proposal content on sustainability strategy and service offerings.
* Manage and direct project staff and consultant teams as required.
* Support the Quality Assurance Manager in their function as it relates to sustainability services.
Qualifications:
* University degree in Sustainability, Applied Science or Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Economics or Finance, Business Administration, Environmental Science/Studies or a combination of related academic and practical experience.
* Graduate degree is an asset (i.e. M.Sc., MBA)
* P.Eng, PMP, CEM, LEED AP, designations an asset.
* LEED AP and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designations will be required as part of the role but may not be necessary at the time of hiring.
* Minimum 5-7 years experience leading consulting engagements within the construction industry.
* Extensive experience working with executive client groups and stakeholders
* High level of competency with respect to sustainability, environmental management, energy management, GHG management, LEED Green Buidling Rating System, and green buildings in general, all within the construction sector.
* Experience with the IDP, ideally with specific experience leading consultant teams and client groups through the process.
* Previous experience with green buildings, sustainability and energy conservation measures.
* Recognized leadership in sustainability and the buildings sector (i.e. through invited speaking engagements juried/peer reviewed papers, articles and corporate board participation).
* Demonstrated aptitude for business development, marketing and identifying opportunities for future business and opportunities.
* Exceptional communication skills.
* A broad skill set including strong writing, organizational, analytical and strategic skills.
