Dragonfly Lane ~ Berries and Garden Greens is a small organic permaculture CSA farm that provides berries, food and flowers for our family, and for approximately 12-20 CSA families, and local food market. We are applying for organic certification as we have been using best gardening practices.
In our first year of CSA development - exciting! We offer interns, wwoofers, helpers a great place to learn, to acquire skills, learn garden designs, notions of permaculture, organics, companion planting, medicinal plants, flowers, berries, small fruits, Garden Greens, wildcrafting. With both Dutch and Wabanaki Native, our commitment is to honor the Land and our clients. These are a ways of Life here on the farm. 4 to 6 acres of land (not all cultivated) and 94 acres wooded lot, wild edibles, small animals, ponds and yes Dragonflies! Life is beautiful here!
We received incredible permaculture designs, have started to build the raised beds and plant. The berry trees and plants are here, we are excited to see how everything will grow: 5 variety of berry plants (400 +) and small fruit trees, rhubarb, herbs, garden greens and vegetables, medicinal plants, wild plants and flowers for the soul. We love value-added products and wildcrafts. Moving some wild plants will be a must we want to save the wild orchids, rosehips and blueberries ( very small and we have good equipment to help do this). Building arbors for grapes, gourds and squash, flower beds, and pond area for medicinal plants, vertical support, permaculture soil improvement. We want to a small dwelling into a guest house for interns-helpers. A good automatic farming tractor, equipment to work with: post digger, backhoe, tiller for tractor and 2 other tillers. We also have small lawn mower/tractor, and other mechanical equipment.
We enjoy the company of others, we welcome wwoofers, interns, helpers here. We offer you a warm welcome with good learning- exchange stay at our farm.
Dragonflies Lane is situated along a beautiful Canadian Heritage River. Our home was built by Tony - Log Home, and some of the design by Madeleine. We often observe beautiful wildlife and have much respect for it.
We are 1 1/2 hr from two major airports: Saint John and Fredericton. We live about 35 minutes from the Ocean in beautiful Saint Andrews! The closest town is about 13 minutes from our home (Chocolate Town !). We have kayaks, canoes, 2 bikes and enjoy country living and nature photography.
We eat half vegetarian and non-vegetarian. We eat fresh and healthy. We get up early in am (Madeleine gets up before Sunrise as part of her traditions) (Tony may be up or not before her). Hmm, sometimes we sleep in on rainy days :) Our home is smoke free.
We love to laugh, read, paint, listen to music, explore the Land, visit the Ocean and have potlucks with our young farmer friends. We have an electric piano, and few other instruments for Tony, and Madeleine has her Native drums.
We welcome you here ! :)
Madeleine and Tony
